MONDAYS

3:00pm Slow Burn with Lisa Hillary Johnson

Class Description

Slow Burn explores holding postures longer to engage muscles and cultivate strength and flexibility. You will practice about half the number of poses as you would in a standard flow class. The unhurried pace is meditative, emphasizing peace and calm in your body and mind. You hold poses longer, taking several rounds of breath in each instead of moving with each breath. This is an ideal class for beginners or more experienced yogis wanting to deepen their practice. 

5:30pm Vinyasa & Yin with Lisa Hillary Johnson
55 minutes (Prior to massage classes)

Class Description

A creative form of yoga where each pose is linked with one breath in the flow. There is not a standard sequence of poses. Thus, every class is a unique experience. Class ends with gentle Yin poses held for 3 – 10 minutes each to work deeply into the connective tissues of the joints, hips, pelvis, and spine.

Class Description

Megan’s yoga class offers a sanctuary for you to nurture a connection with your mind and body. She helps students cultivate a yoga practice that supports physical, mental, and spiritual well-being by maintaining a keen eye on body placement. Focusing on stability, this class of slow movement and breath work brings you into a balanced, peaceful state. This highly instructional class is great for beginners or more experienced yogis wanting to hone their skills. 

3:00 pm Breathe & Pose with Krystalle Hill

Class Description

This soulful flow will blend mindful breath and intentional poses together as one. You will love Krystalle’s authentic nature as she shares the intention of letting go of emotional pain. Students will learn to unlock gifts living dormant inside themselves and awaken the reality of living without suffering. The mindfulness lessons in class heal your mind while the poses facilitate improved posture and ease of movement. This is accomplished during class by focusing on what is inside yourself. This focus facilitates the cleansing and healing of organs, allowing your system to reach a higher energy potential.

6:00pm Hatha, Meditation & Gong with Valarie Weir 
75 minutes
Class Description

Come to this popular class of yoga and deep body sound healing. Valerie leads you through a gentle, full-body Hatha movement class, then follows this up with a 20-minute sound bath using her two planetary gongs. Join us in this class and feel your body’s vibrational energy being lifted. This class is great for those new to yoga or more experienced students wanting to deepen their experience.

Krystalle Hill - Bio

Krystalle was discharged from the Army in 2004 with a diagnosis of complex PTSD. Although yoga was recommended for treatment, she immediately found that far too triggering and rejected the practice for 15 years. In 2019, she met a massage therapist and yoga teacher who used her therapeutic gifts to create a safe space for Krystalle to heal her PTSD through a yoga practice.

During covid, Krystalle completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training and immediately earned a scholarship to study trauma-informed yoga practices. Now, she is committed to helping empower people to see the light that burns within themselves. She is currently completing a Yoga Therapist program with the goal of working one-on-one to help others live a life that doesn’t bury them in sorrow. She is passionate about healing by using yoga as a tool to reduce suffering in the mind and body.

Lisa Hillary Johnson - Bio

Knowing it wasn’t her true calling, Lisa sought a corporate career path after earning a Bachelor’s Degree in business. She turned to a Holistic Plant-Based Lifestyle, hoping to alleviate the anxiety, panic attacks and depression she struggled with since childhood. Finally feeling balanced, she left Corporate America and was able to raise her three children. She firmly believes that lifestyle change saved her life. In 2001, Lisa attended Irene’s Myomassology Institute and earned her Massage Therapy diploma. She began practicing yoga in 2004 and started teaching 10 years later. Having completed multiple LifePower Yoga Teacher Trainings, she now offers her own Teacher Training programs.

Currently, Lisa maintains a private massage clientele in Downtown Detroit, is a hands-on massage instructor, and teaches an array of electives at Irene’s. In 2023, she started a non-profit, “Deep Breaths and Heal”, for black women who experienced sexual assault. And, if that’s not enough, Lisa also coordinates yoga teachers for Detroit Public Schools, teaching children yoga and mindfulness.

Megan Slattery - Bio

Megan is an experienced, dedicated, and passionate yoga instructor who believes in the power of meditation and movement to transform lives. While she is a delightful presence, her yoga classes focus on alignment, balance, strength, and ease.

Valarie Weir - Bio

Valerie is a sound healer, yogi, and massage therapist with 30 years of experience. She is delighted to return to Irene’s and is looking forward to seeing new faces and old friends. We’re excited to welcome her back for the first time since covid turned the world upside down.
