Irene’s Variety of Classes

Our primary focus at Irene’s is a comprehensive therapeutic massage program that prepares students for careers as Licensed Massage Therapists. We also offer personal enrichment classes open to the public, elective classes, and continuing education courses that help licensed massage therapists maintain state licensure and expand their skills.

Metro Detroit’s Therapeutic Massage Training Program

Irene’s massage school in Southfield, Michigan prepares students for successful careers as Licensed Massage Therapists. Graduates leave Irene’s with extensive hands-on experience, a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, pathology, and professional ethics, and practical training in research-based therapeutic massage techniques.

Our massage therapy program emphasizes evidence-informed education, therapeutic skill development, client-centered care, and practical clinical application. Students learn how to assess client needs, develop treatment strategies, and apply therapeutic techniques in both classroom and supervised clinical settings.

Our commitment to student success continues beyond graduation. Irene’s graduates consistently pass the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination, also known as the MBLEx, at rates higher than both state and national averages. We provide guidance throughout the licensing process and offer Lifetime Job Placement assistance to help graduates launch and grow rewarding massage therapy careers.

Founded by Irene Gauthier, Irene’s Myomassology Institute draws on generations of knowledge, formal education, and practical experience. While Irene’s honors the value of holistic health and wellness, our educational foundation is rooted in therapeutic massage, scientific understanding of the human body, and evidence-informed instruction.

Watch for our annual Open House with free classes and complimentary massage. In addition, several of Irene’s elective courses are open to the public and are well loved in the community. Massage Continuing Education

As licensed massage therapists, you need to complete continuing education (CE) to renew your Michigan massage license every three years.

Michigan Massage Therapy Licensing requires 18 hours of continuing education to be completed during a 3 year licensing period. Your CE requirements can be confusing, so we provide you with all the current information you need.

At Irene’s, we understand CE can be both fun and a great opportunity to refresh or deepen your skills! That’s why we offer a multitude of opportunities for you. We even have some discounts for alumni.
