Irene’s – Why did you choose massage therapy as a career?
Amber – I chose to become a massage therapist so I could help people improve their overall health of the mind and body.
Irene’s – Where do you practice massage therapy?
Amber – Kneaded Relief Massage and Spa, located at 13235 Northline Rd. Southgate Mi 48195
Irene’s – What is the most rewarding part of your massage career?
Amber – There are so many rewarding aspects of being a Massage Therapist! Having the ability to help clients reduce stress, and pain and improve their overall quality of life is very humbling. Even the “basic” relaxing massage can improve so much. I see clients with various health issues from Parkinson’s to being wheelchair-bound. As well as different careers from teachers, police officers, and nurses to factor workers.
Irene’s – Do you have a favorite memory from massage school?
Amber -So many amazing memories as a student at Irene’s to pick just one. Just being at Irene’s was the most calming and loving environment that help me find the peace needed to thrive. The amount of support from teachers and fellow students was the absolute best.
Irene’s – What was the best class you took at Irene’s massage school?
Amber – So many great classes are offered at Irene’s to pick a favorite! The elective Changing Woman help me learn so much about myself and gave me the ability to help and understand a woman’s ever-changing body. Although I enjoyed and benefited from so many more.
Irene’s – What bodywork modalities or massage techniques do you find most effective?
Amber – So many modalities learned at Irene’s that are very effective in different areas of treatment. Trigger points I’ve found provide immediate relief.
Irene’s – What was your greatest success with a massage client?
Amber – Giving any and all clients a better quality of life is a success for me.
Irene’s – To what do you attribute your success as a massage therapist?
Amber – Continuing to learn and grow as a therapist I believe has helped me thrive and be successful!
Irene’s – What continuing education have you taken after graduating from massage school?
Amber – Craniosacral therapy. I am currently certified in craniosacral therapy and will continue with my DO in craniosacral therapy.
Irene’s – Do you have any advice for new massage therapists?
Amber – In order to sustain the ability to provide the very best quality massage for your clients and have longevity as a therapist you have to listen to your own body, nurture it, and continue to learn, and grow!
