All massage therapists are required to obtain a license by November 29, 2014. After that, it will be a criminal violation of the law to practice massage therapy without a board-issued license. You have sufficient time to complete this process, but this is not an excuse to procrastinate! Irene's encourages alumni to begin their licensing process as soon as possible.
For currently enrolled students, the school pays for their Massage Board Licensing Exam and their initial State Licensing fee. Our students receive guidance in completing their Michigan licensing application, and we submit their forms to the State upon completion of the student's program.
The two year window for a massage therapist to obtain a license under the Grandfather Clause has expired. All future applicants will need to qualify for a license with a completed education from a state approved school and pass the Massage Board Licensing Exam (MBLEx).
Irene’s alumni members will receive licensing assistance from our career services department. Contact the school at 248-350-1400.
